1/27 ITA Rankings Release

The newest rankings were released today with little movement in the men's top 10 while the women's top 10 saw 6 different teams shuffle spots.

That one top 10 change on the men's side was Texas A&M coming up a spot to #4 while Baylor drops a spot to #5 after struggling at home last weekend.

I'll start out on the men's side and look at the teams that moved up at least 4 spots and then look at the teams that fell at least 4 spots with any notable results listed from the last week through this past Sunday.

Movin' On Up:
#21 Northwestern - up 4 spots - beat #23 Tulsa 4-1, lost at #7 Illinois 4-0

Notes:
  • Lots of teams got pushed up a spot or two for close losses so it was good to see them get some respect
    • #25 Oklahoma State up 3 spots to #25 after the close 4-3 loss at #3 TCU
    • #39 Georgia Tech up 3 spots after a 4-0 win over #49 SMU; competitive vs. #12 UCLA
    • #46 Oregon up 3 spots after a close 4-2 loss at #5 Baylor
    • #67 UC Irvine up 3 spots after a reasonably close 4-1 loss at #5 Baylor

There was a good bit of shuffling in the women's top 10 as Georgia and USC swapped spots at #2 and #4 with Georgia coming off a successful Kick-Off Weekend while USC had to hold on to get past #59 UC Santa Barbara 4-3. Virginia and Stanford swapped spots at #7 and #8 with Virginia going 2-0 last week while Stanford didn't play. Texas A&M moves up from #10 to #9 and Oklahoma State from #11 to #10 after UCLA tumbled from #9 to #21 after its loss to then #54 Fresno State

  • Kansas and South Alabama dropped out of the rankings while Hawaii and Denver entered. Kansas was idle last week while South Alabama lost to #9 Texas A&M and #60 Minnesota
  • Indiana dropped 4 spots despite winning both its matches last week though they were against lighter competition. The drop was due to Fresno State, Oregon, and Illinois passing them after having a qualify win.

Thanks for letting me know

Does anyone know why Connor Farren is no longer on the USC Roster?

Left school and is giving the pro tour a try on a full-time basis. He wasn't a guarantee to start with the influx of talented freshmen coming in so he probably didn't think he could improve as much sitting on the sidelines.

Can't make top 6 so he goes pro?? How about a transfer maybe?
