Cameron Norrie's summer just keeps getting better as the TCU Horned Frog won his 10th straight match on Sunday by beating recent Illinois graduate Jared Hiltzik to claim the $25K Wichita, Kansas, USA F23 Futures. The match started off with five consecutive breaks before Norrie fought off a pair of break points to hold for 4-2. After a Hiltzik hold, Norrie would take the next five games to close out the opening set 6-3 and go up 3-0 in the second set. It was all holds the rest of the way with Norrie fighting off a break point to hold in a one-deuce game to close it out 6-3, 6-3.
Norrie has now won back-to-back Futures events after taking the singles title last week in Tulsa. Sunday's win brings Norrie's record in singles finals to 3-1 with the wins in Wichita, Tulsa, and Mansfield and the lone loss coming back in 2014 in Israel.

$10K Curtea De Agres, Romania, F8 (Clay) - #382 Dragos Dima (Cornell '12) made it to his fourth final of the year but after winning the first three he fell to #570 Miliaan Niesten in straight sets. Dima was broke in each of his eight service games and only won 50% of the points on his serve in the 6-1, 6-3 loss.

Nice results by Cameron Norrie. Does that mean he's likely to go Pro? Would hurt TCU if he left.
I think if he wins a few more this summer then it's that much more likely that he moves on - if he doesn't win any more then we'll see. Him leaving definitely wouldn't help but Roditi has shown he can bring in the big guns
I disagree Bobby, if Norrie wants to play pro his time to go is now. He's proving he's ready to be a top 250 player, winning 2 futures especially tough ones suggests college has done its job for cam.
But a top 250 player isn't making a living playing tennis, so . . .
No you are right a top 250 player isn't making a living. So if Cam is studying business and wants to work on Wall Street in 2 years he should get his degree (although he should go to a better academic school).....but if he wants a shot at pro tennis now is his time to try
I am always surprised to see people jump on the pro train when a player wins a couple events in a very short time, particularly when they are playing the same field of players. They happen to be playing well at this very small window of time, against a very small market of players. You do not forgo an education because you win a couple events. And if you check out the draws, there weren't phenomenal wins, just a good match or two, the finals were pretty weak for 25k's. None of this justifies going pro.

Big Tcu fan here, sadly I think Cam is going pro, playing great now and with a full year on tour his ranking will climb quickly
Cam up to close to 400, sorry frog fans but he's gone, he didn't pick tcu because of the stellar academics. He will be 125 by this time next year, he's a playa.
Again, Cam Norrie will be playing at TCU this coming season. And for your "stellar academics" comment....Cam picked TCU over Michigan...enough said.
He went to TCU because he couldn't get in to michigan and TCU sold him on being better prepared for a pro career
Cameron's exact quote when he signed his NLI with TCU was "I feel I have made the right decision signing with TCU. I think it is the best place to develop my tennis, gain a high quality education and make international connections." He had previously verbally committed to Michigan but never signed a NLI so he never even applied there.
People just make stuff up. Of course Norrie signed with Michigan, you can't put out a press under NCAA rules unless you sign, that's the rules:

Some people just make stuff up. There is nothing whatsoever in any of the above links which says that Michigan wouldn't admit Norrie. In fact, to release something like that would violate NCAA rules. So unless, "Annonymous" has another link or has some inside info into the Michigan admissions office, I think we can safely doubt any of his claims.
I think his point was he signed a NLI, so they did a press release. He could only get out of the NLI if he was not admitted..

He has done well, for what, a few weeks? I have seen the junior who beats some really good player once and becomes a legend in his section for years, but never really does anything else consistently as time marches on. This seems to be that story. He shouldn't go pro unless he is academically weak and won't get anything out of college anyway.

He actually couldn't get out of the NLI because of a coaching change. That is something that is specifically listed as NOT a valid reason. "A prospective student-athlete signs an NLI with an
institution. If the coach leaves, the NLI signee is still bound by the provisions of the NLI."
