It was a day for the 2s at the Oracle events with both No. 2 seeds winning the singles titles as the Oracle ITA Masters in Malibu and a player from a Division 2 school winning the Oracle Cup Men's Singles Championship and Women's Doubles Championship.
UCLA freshman and No. 2 seed Ena Shibahara ran her collegiate record to 15-1 with a tough three-set win over Pepperdine sophomore and top seed Luisa Stefani. The pivotal point of the match came late in the third set when Shibahara broke Stefani's 5-5 service game on the no-ad (40/40) point. Shibahara then held from 40/15 to close it out 6-3, 4-6, 7-5.
Kentucky sophomore and No. 2 seed Ryotaro Matsumura won the men's singles title with a three-set win over Columbia senior Shawn Hadavi. After splitting sets, Matsumura took his first lead in the third set after breaking Hadavi's 2-2 service game, from 30/40, and then he fought off a pair of break points to hold on the no-ad point to make it 4-2. Matsumura broke Hadavi from 15/40 to extend his lead to 5-2 and then he served it out from love to take it 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
Azusa Pacific (D2) senior Oliver Frank (12.64) won the Oracle Cup Men's Singles Championship with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Tyler Junior College freshman Jorge Martinez (12.90). Note to APU - time to update your roster so it includes Mr. Frank.

Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD/NAIA) junior Camille Gbaguidi won the Oracle Cup Women's Singles Championship with a 6-3, 6-2 win over State College of Florida (JUCO) sophomore Maria Medina.

Both of the Oracle Cup Doubles Champions were repeat winners with Georgia Gwinnett's (NAIA) Jordan Cox and Kevin Konfederak claiming the men's title and Lynn's (D2) Diana Bogoliy and Rosalie Willing claiming the women's title.
